Gifford Hardy Trophy 2020 – Nick Tedd

Trophy_2

Gifford Hardy was a well-loved member of NADP, a frequent contributor to NADP’s magazine, Network, and also founded the Sussex Pen Club, a correspondence circle for the deafened people who lived in the south-east.  The Gifford Hardy Trophy is awarded to the best article to appear in the Network during the preceding year.  The trophy, which is a silver plate, was first awarded in 1993 and was instituted by Gifford’s daughter, Janine Burgess, as she and his widow, Ivy, wished to have him remembered in this way.

The Gifford Hardy Trophy for 2020 has been awarded to Nick Tedd for his article “Behind the scenes at Bliss after lockdown”.  Usually, this information would not be published until after the presentation of the Trophy, which normally takes place at the AGM.  But because the pandemic continues to make physical meetings problematic this year’s AGM will be virtual.  So we are making the announcement via Network instead.  We will certainly be getting the silver plate to Nick some other way.  Congratulations to him!!
