| Can you help NADP and deafened people?
The work that NADP does results from the dedication and commitment of a small band of volunteers, as NADP has no paid staff. These volunteers make up the Executive Committee, and they are also the Trustees of the charity. To ensure that we continue to move forward, we would welcome additional Trustees to help in our work, bring new ideas, and ensure we do not become stale by placing too much reliance on the same people all the time.
The work involved is not onerous. The Executive Committee usually meets about four times a year, and members also maintain regular email contact on issues relating to the management and development of NADP and the support of deafened people. Members all have different strengths which are used to best advantage, whether that is in representing NADP on committees, etc, progressing projects, or in administration. The work is extremely satisfying with the bonus it can help to improve a person's confidence and abilities as well as providing a chance to make a difference to the lives of deafened people in the UK.
All meetings are fully supported by verbatim speech to text so there are no communication problems for those attending, and of course NADP pays travel expenses to members so they are not out of pocket.
We would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in NADP’s work. Use the link to contact us on this web site and tell us a bit about yourself. All of us on the Executive Committee are deafened and know how deafness makes you lose your confidence – so do not feel this is something you could not possibly cope with. We all thought that once, but found we were wrong. We look forward to hearing from you.
